Our mission at WEBC is to know Jesus and to make Him known.
Who We Are
West End Baptist Chapel cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. We are a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.
Church History
West End Baptist Chapel was the vision of a woman named Elizabeth Haupt. She began to meet with a few fellow Christians in her garage and then, in 1977, a group from First Baptist Church of Hagerstown joined the effort to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to Hagerstown. The church decided that it needed to expand the area that is was reaching and opened a common center in a warehouse on the west end of town. This was to be a safe place where the children could participate in a church-sponsored after-school program. The program continued to grow and soon a new building was constructed. More and more people were being drawn to the community center. It was clear that there was a need for a church. West End Baptist Chapel was born.
What God is Doing Now
West End Baptist Chapel purchased the old Winter Street School property in September of 2018. The current vision of the church is to have use the space with which we have been blessed to have more seating, parking, and educational space. The worship center can now seat 550 people and is able to meet our needs as we reach the community.
